E-mail blocking?
2003-10-16 17:31:56
I noted that there is an option for members to block e-mail from single males. As a former couple member and currently a single male, I understand the necessity of this option and support it. I am curious, though: If a single male sends an e-mail to a member who has blocked single male e-mails, will an error message be returned to the originator so he knows that the intended recipient did not get that message (e.g. and perhaps it might say it was blocked due to it being a single male message)?

The answer to my own question is YES. A message results, saying you "cannot send e-mail to X person." I just had it happen. It doesn't say WHY you can't send it (e.g. YOU'VE been blocked, all males have been blocked, etc.). But at least it does let you know that the person will not be getting your e-mail. FYI, for those who are reading this post but didn't know the answer, either.

Hi Greg...indeed that is correct. And our apologies for the belated reply...things have been rather busy over here, and we completely missed your original question.

We added that option by popular request. Though most profiles specify distinctly whether they are interested in accepting correspondence with single males, we felt by adding this ability (to block) we would only be adding a safeguard against those who choose to ignore such preferences.

Thanks for your query!

Best,
